Gereon Meyer is a physicist, publicist and innovation policy consultant. He is specialized on enabling technologies for product innovation, and on the transformation of the automobile and the transport system. Currently, he is the Head of the Department European and International Business Development as well as the Deputy Head of the Department Future Mobility and Europe at VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH in Berlin, Germany. Gereon has been the director of numerous future studies and roadmaps, including the reports “Electrification of the Transport System” (2017) and “Connected and Automated Transport” (2019) of the Strategic Transport Research and Innovation Agenda (STRIA) issued by the European Commission. He also is the chairman of the International Forum on Advanced Microsystems for Automotive Applications (AMAA), the editor of the Springer book series Lecture Notes in Mobility and a member of various expert panels, e.g. the advisory board for the mobility innovation strategy of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology.Gereon has earned a Ph.D. in Physics from the Freie Universität Berlin. Before joining VDI/VDE-IT in 2007 he was a fellow of the Alexander-von-Humboldt Foundation and a research associate at Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA (USA), and a visiting scientist at Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, San Jose, CA (USA) as well as Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley, CA (USA).
